Deddington lies 200 km roughly north of the capital Hobart, Tasmania (see maps). The nearest large city is Launceston some 40 odd km. away and other British-sounding names scatter the countryside, St Leonards, Epping, Bracknell, Upper Blessington, and Bridgenorth.
At one time there were great plans for a town to be established here. The maximum population at Deddington would have been approximately 250 at the end of the nineteenth century. The present population is now less than one hundred.
