Transcript of Will of John Stilgoe of HMS Chester

Proved 21 April 1750.

 IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN

I John Stilgoe belonging to his Majestys Ship Chester Captain
Francis Geary Commander do it??? this my last Will and
Testament on the 19th day of July 1744 and not knowing how it
may please God to deal with but considering the uncertainty
of this present Transitory Life do make and declare these presents
to contain my last Will and Testament in  manner and form
following That is to say, First and principally I ? my body
into the hands of Almighty God hoping to be saved through the
Merit death passion & resurrection of Jesus Christ my only Saviour
and my body to the Earth or Sea as it shall happen  I give and
bequeath all my prize money Wages Sum and Sums of money
Lands Tenements Goods Chattels and Estate whatsoever wherever
at the time of my decease Shall be possessed or invested or
which shall there belong or of Right appertaining to me I do
give devise and bequeath unto my Wife Eleanor Stilgoe and
Ann Stilgoe my daughter both of the parish of St Georges
Southwark in the County of Surrey Share and Share alike or to
the Survivor of them and I do constitute and appoint my said
wife and Daughter Executrixes of this my last Will and
Testament and do revoke all former Wills and deeds of Gift
 by me at any time heretofore made and do ordain these presents
to stand and before and as my last Will and Testament for
ever Witness my hand and Seal the day and year above written

THIS WILL was proved at London before the Worshipfull
George ?L?ay Doctor of Laws Surrogate to the Right Worshipful
John Bettersworth also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or
Commisary of the prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully
constituted on the twenty first day of April in the year of Our
Lord One thousand Seven hundred and fifty by the Oath of Eleanor
Stilgoe Widow the Relict of the deceased and one of the Executors
named in the said Will To whom Administration was granted of
all and singular the Goods Chattels and credits of the said deceased
being first sworn only to administer power deferred to make the
like Grant to Ann Stilgoe Spinster the Daughter of the said
deceased and other Executrix when she shall apply for the 
same
