| Notes: |
1 John Harris Snr (d.1828) is recorded in an '1808 Survey of the Duchy Manor of Deddington belonging to William Cartwright' as occupying 'The Homestead a freehold property at enclosure'. i.e. he owned it but paid a few pence a year to the Cartwright Estate under an ancient feudal system. The property is listed in the Survey as two cottages 73 & 73a whose location is shown as 73 situated on the Market Place on the 1808 Enclosure map. The cottages are now Clydesdale and Wells Cottage.
2 It is not known when the property was originally sold by the Cartwright estate prior to 1808. This Indenture (dated 6 September 1849) is the first deed recording ownership other than the 1808 Enclosure Award.
