Deddington & District History Society (D&DHS)
The society is open to all and exists to promote awareness of and interest in the history of Deddington and its neighbourhood. We hold monthly meetings, offering a mix of lectures and events (such as exhibitions and visits) of interest not just to members but to anyone living in the area. Many are happy simply to attend our meetings, but anyone wanting to carry out research into local or family history find in the society a friendly and supportive environment, with much advice on offer.
Membership fees, which give free entry to meetings, are £11 a year for individuals, or £20 for couples. Non-members pay £2.50 a meeting, refundable on joining the society. Meetings are usually held at the Windmill Centre, Hempton Road, on the second Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm.

The Electoral Register for Deddington Parish for the 1845 general election. The franchise was very limited, excluding the poorer inhabitants and, of course, women.
The Charity Commissioners' report on the state of charities in Deddington, 1839
Settlement, or a person's right to poor relief from a parish, was often hotly disputed, going all the way to the King's Bench. This is the decision in the case of one Maynard, from the reign of George II
The University has done some interesting statistical analysis of the C19th census for Deddington, and for other places.
