Deddington man wins medal at the Chelsea Flower Show 2005

Charles Barker who has lived in New Street Deddington since 2001 has just won a silver gilt award for a stand that celebrates the achievements of his Grandfather; Amos Perry.

Between 1900 and 1945 Amos Perry won 163 awards of merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. Today less than 70 of these once famous plants can be found. The National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens with Capel Manor College sponsored the stand that was designed by Charles Barker and the Perry Family.

The stand featured many of the surviving plants and was designed to evoke the atmosphere of the early 20th Century nursery, Perry's Hardy Plant Farm, Enfield.
