Rob Forsyth

During the search for members of the Jarrett family Catherine got in touch with me and kindly provided the following further comments

Frank is my 2nd great uncle.

My great grandmother is Rose Jarrett later Simmonds. Her daughter Winifred Bell Simmonds is my maternal grandmother. I live in Birmingham UK so not far away and have visited Deddington often. The photo of Frank as a butcher is one I posted on I think the Commonwealth War Graves site.

Rose had three daughters: Dorrie, Winnie and Edna.   The descendants of these three girls/ women are all close and we are in regular contact.

The other siblings for Frank are:

  • Clara who emigrated to Canada and had four children two of whom died young. We have no contact with them
  • Alice also emigrated to Canada at the same time and had no children.
  • Arthur married and lived in Worcester UK and died around 1940 and had no children.

Sophia, Franks mother emigrated with Clara and Alice in 1913 and died within two weeks of arriving in Canada.  My grandma [aged 13] recalls the night in 1913 before they all left and said it was one of the worst nights of her life. Frank arrived on 3 May in Halifax according to your info. Family information is that Clara  arrived in Quebec on 13 May 1913 (Ed's note: the passenger manifest staes 3 May)
