In the name of God Amen  I Mary Egerton of Deddington in the County of Oxon Spinster being sick and weak of body

but of sound and perfect mind memory and understanding (praised be God for the same) do make my last Will and

Testament in manner following that is to say

first I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Heavenly Father hoping assuredly through the merit death

and passion of my blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my

sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my

executrix hereinafter named and as touching the disposition of all such temporal estate God has been pleased to

bless me with I give and dispose thereof as follows 

Imprimis I will that all my just debts legacies and funeral expenses be paid and discharged 

Item I give and bequeath unto my loving friend Sarah Maynard the wife of Samuel Maynard Praiser the sum of three

pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto her within one year after my decease and also my suite (suits)

of black and white clothes (cloths) and two shifts. 

Item I give and bequeath unto my loving friend Eleanor Smith the wife of James Smith the Elder the sum of four

pounds of like lawful money to be paid also unto her with one year of my decease and also my fancy (tawny?) gown

and ------

Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Coles the daughter of Mr Job Coles the sum of ten shillings to buy herself a ring

Item I give and bequeath unto Nathanole Day and Richard French the sons of Nathanole and Samuel French the sum of

ten shillings apiece to be paid to them respectively within three months after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto Anne Davis the daughter of (Grocer?) Davis of Adderbury in the said County of Oxon

widow my best suit of clothes and unto Mrs Sarah Collett the granddaughter of Mrs Sarah Cobb my ----- apron and

unto my loving friend Grace Butcher my (Sute?)? of flower edged pinners and unto my loving friend Anne Sutton one

(set?) of caps?

Item I give and bequeath unto the said Eleanor Smith the further sum of seven pounds and ten shillings of like money

to be paid also unto her  within one year of my decease  all which said legacies to be paid out my money that is

deposited in the said  Job Coles hands for my use.

All the said residue and remainder of my goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever not herein before disposed of

I give and bequeath the said Eleanor Smith she paying my legacies and funeral expenses whom I make whole and sole

executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made and


In Witness whereof I the said Mary Egerton have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the eight and

twentieth of January anno domini one thousand seven hundred and twenty eight  Signed sealed published and

declared as and for the last will and  testament of the above named Mary Egerton in the presence of us who subscribed

our names as witness thereunto in the presence of the said testatrix
