1793 - Richard Killby to John Bennett for £40

Almost exactly one year after his father sold Winmour Cottage to Robert Killby, John Bennett bought it back for the same price - £40.  When John purchased it his father was still occupying the property, presumably renting from Robert Killby.

Sealed and delivered being first duly stamped and quiet and
peaceable possession and seizin of the Messuage Cottage or
Tenement and other the premises with the appurtenances
within mentioned was had and taken by the within named
Robert Killby and by him Delivered unto the within name
John Bennett the day and year within mentioned To Hold
tto him his heirs and Assigns according to the purport and
Effect of the within written Indenture in the presence of
Samuel Churchill Junr.

the within named John Bennett the full sum of forty
pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain being the
Consideration Money within mentioned to be paid by

THIS INDENTURE made the twenty first day of January in the thirty third year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth  And in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three BETWEEN Robert Killby of Deddington in the County of Oxford Baker of the one part and John Bennett of Deddington aforesaid Weaver of the other part

WITNESSETH that for and in Consideration of the sum of forty pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain to the said Robert Killby paid at or before the sealing and delivery thereof well and truly in hand paid by the said John Bennett in full for the absolute purchase of the Freehold and Inheritance in fee simple in possession of and in the Messuage Cottage or Tenement hereinafter mentioned to be granted with the Appurtenances The Receipt whereof the said Robert Killby doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and or every part and parcel thereof doth acquit release and discharge the said John Bennett his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns and each and every of them for ever by these presents

And for divers other good causes and considerations the said Robert Killby HATH granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed release ratified and confirmed

And by these presents DOTH grant bargain sell alien enfeoffe release ratify and confirm unto the said John Bennett his Heirs and Assigns for ever ALL THAT Messuage Cottage or Tenement with the Barns Outbuildings Yard and Garden and appurtenances thereto belonging situate standing and being in philcock Street in Deddington aforesaid now in the Tenure or occupation of William Bennett father of the said John Bennett

A messuage or tenement now or late in the occupation of Edward Knibbs being next of the South side and a messuage or tenement now or late in the occupation of James Hopcraft  being next of the North side thereof

Which said Messuage Cottage or Tenement and premises were lately bought and purchased by the said Robert Killby to him his heirs and Assigns for ever of and from the said William Bennett….
