Death of Sir Henry Samman

Sir Henry Samman, Bt., of The Manor House, Willerby, near Hull, died at Nice yesterday at the age of 78. He had almost a lifelong association with the port of Hull.  In addition to the management of  his own firm of Samman and Co., Sir Henry became the managing director of the Deddington Steamship Company, Hull.  He represented the Hull Chamber of Commerce on the Executive Council of the Chamber of Shipping for the United Kingdom, and was a member of the Executive of the Shipping Federation.  He possessed estates at Routh, in East Yorkshire, and Wark, on the Tweed.  His son, Mr. Harry Samman, of Cottingham, who succeeds to the baronetcy, served in the South African War and also in the Great War.
