Victoria County History tells us "In the 18th and 19th centuries Deddington's range of clubs and voluntary institutions was remarkable for a town of its size...and there was a Brass band.."

Gavin Holman who plays the Tuba in Harrogate Brass Band, emailed (March 2019) some more details:

"I noticed a brief entry in your history pages about a Deddington Brass Band, and thought you'd like some further details that I have found during my research into the history of brass bands.

Deddington and Bloxham Brass Band - Active in the 1840s and 1850s

Deddington Brass Band - Active in the 1890s and 1900s. Leader Mr Fowler in 1897, J.H. Vincent in 1903. (This may have been the same as the Congregational Band)

Deddington Congregational Brass Band - Active in 1894, 1895

Deddington Independent School Brass Band - Active in 1905"
